Nissanka, Mendis half tons help Sri Lanka A to 223-5

Half tons from opener Pathum Nissanka and one drop batsman Kamindu Mendis saw Sri Lanka A end the first day of the second unofficial test against Bangladesh A on 223 for five wickets at Hambantota yesterday.

Winning the toss and batting first Sri Lanka A were boosted by a second wicket stand of 121 between Nissanka and Mendis before Bangladesh fought back to capture four wickets for 70 runs to reduce Sri Lanka from a healthy position of 153-1 to 223-5 by the close.

Nissanka struck 11 fours in his 166-ball innings of 85 and Mendis hit eight fours and one six scoring 62 off 121 balls.
