Sri Lanka will take on Lebanon today in a second round match of the FIFA World Cup 2022 & AFC Asia Cup Preliminary Joint Qualification match at the Race Course ground at 7.30 p.m. Both captains and their coaches addressed the media yesterday at the Football House Auditorium.

Lebanese coach Livu Cribotarive speaking at the media conference held at Football House Auditorium yesterday said that his team is confident of winning the game as it is of great importance for them to make their way to the next round. He further said that all team members are sure to come up with their best performance.

Lebanon’s skipper Hassan Mutak too said that the team is ready to face Sri Lanka in this crucial game. “We are looking to win this game as the three points that come for us is vital for us to go further in this qualifying round,” he said.

When asked whether the conditions here will create any issues he said though the conditions here are not familiar to them the players were ready to face them and play in a positive manner.

Sri Lanka’s coach Packeer Ali noted that though Sri Lanka went down to South Korea 8-0 last week his team’s performances showed an improvement.

“Facing a team with eight Korean players playing in the German League posed the biggest problem for our team to face in that game,” said Ali.

“Our boys are tough although they lost this match they have learnt a lot playing against such well experienced players to gain knowledge on how to face tough opposition. With what they’ve learnt I am sure that my young team will pose a big challenge to the Lebanese today,” said Ali.

M.N.M. Fazal leads the Sri Lankan team as the regular captain is suffering from an injury sustained during the tour to Malaysia and Korea. Sujan Perera the regular goalkeeper who suffered an injury will be seen in action today and it will bring more strength to the Lankan team.

Fazal said that he has the fullest co-operation from his team members and they would pose a big challenge to the visiting Lebanese side. “The experience we gained in South Korea has given a lot of life to our team,” said Fazal.
