Trinity getting ready for ‘Bradby’ second leg

The second leg of the Bradby is set for Saturday, June 15 in Colombo and the winners of the first leg Royal will go out as favourites. The Trinitians will come down to Colombo determined to play their best rugby. Trinity selectors hope to make a few changes. To win this game, the Kandy boys will have to play some flawless rugby.

I would say the Royalist cover defence was the best seen this season. A marked characteristic is there was a backup bridge of at least three forwards when their outsiders are going to tackle.

Trinity’s line should send the ball down as they have brilliant runners. In the first leg, their scrum half was slow, fly-half was not at his best while the full back often kicked straight to the opposition.

The form guide tips Royal as favourites on their home den. They are all out to make it five in a row and history on their side. Saturday's game represents the perfect opportunity for the Lions to stop the rot. Trinity would require some big performances from their key players.

What is this FA Cup? For the last three years, there has been no AGM, no football. Now some of the friends of the football body FFSL are trying to handle football in Kandy and are conducting a tournament called ‘FA cup soccer’. Who is fooling whom? How can outsiders run a tournament for FFSL when there is a league is a question? This can add to the great collection of football jokes.

At one time Kandy was only next to Colombo in billiards and snooker and has provided national players and officials. Today sad to say the sport is in the dark. Mahanuwara YMBA and Public Services club keep the game alive. Kandy YMMA, one of the founders of the Billiards and Snooker Association, have forgotten to switch on the lights. Kandy Garden Club play for fun. Kandy Club’s billiard room is their storeroom.
