Colombo FC beat Transport UFC in AFC Cup second leg

Colombo Football Club came up with a brilliant performance to defeat Transport United FC, Bhutan by two goals to one on Wednesday in the second leg of the AFC Cup 2019 match played in Bhutan.

Colombo FC won the first leg played played in Sri Lanka 7-1.

The Lankans playing under very cold conditions got used to the difficult weather only in the second session of play.

They got their act together and went on the attack to halt the home team’s forward march.

The first half was dominated by Transport United FC taking a one-nil lead. During the second half both teams failed to net any goals for nearly 17 minutes. It was in the 62nd minute that Colombo FC’s striker M.N.M Fazal netted in the equalizer to pose a threat to the home team.

All attempts by Transport United FC to take the lead was halted by goal keeper Mohamed Nazier Mohamed Imran and the defence line. The battle went on another 20 minutes before Isaac Addevu netted in the second goal for the visiting Colombo FC team.

With this victory Colombo FC will get the opportunity to play the next round in India for which dates are not finalized.
