
Mohamed Rikaz of MICH beat M. F. M. Fazil of Air Force by five frames to two in the Colombo District Snooker Tournament final worked off at the Moors Islamic Cultural Home (MICH) in Dematagoda yesterday.
Rikaz took the lead in the first frame 56-41 while Fazil took the second frame 64-57.
In the third frame, Rikaz beat Fazil 77-17 and in the end of the fourth round, Fazil had drawn the match 2-2 when he won the frame 59-9.
But Rikaz took advantage of his experience and won the last three frames 65-5, 89-5 and 58-52.
Meanwhile, Ranil Imam emerged first runner-up when he beat M. Thasleem by two frames to nil.
The Colombo District Tournament attracted 89 competitors and the winner qualified to play in the All-Island Lanka Plate Championship where the players will be fighting for the 16 slots to contest along with the 16 National Ranked players for the 68th National Snooker Championship.
