The Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Sports Selection Committee by the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Namal Rajapaksa.
Suresh Subramaniam, President of the Sri Lanka Olympic Committee, Maxwell de Silva, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Olympic Committee, Arjun Fernando and Mohamed Hafeez Marso are the other members of the National Sports Selection Committee.
The letters of appointment were handed over to the new members of the National Sports Selection Committee last Friday.
Meanwhile the Appeal Advisory Committee also has been appointed by the Sports Minister.
This committee is headed by Supreme Court Judge K. T.Chithrasiri while other members are Presidents Counsels Chandaka Jayasinghe, Dinal Phillips, Former test cricketer Sidath Wettimuny, Asian Games Gold medalist Damayanthi Dharsha, Rahula Wickramanayake and Roshani Kobbekaduwa.
