Three brand new teams to participate

The MCA ‘G’ division 25-Over League Tournament, the last of the main tournaments in the

MCA 2019 calendar, sponsored by Stafford Motor Co. Ltd, for the 09 th successive year, contested

for the ‘Honda’ Trophy will face the starter on June 22.

The 48 teams were pooled in eight Groups as per draw held at the Captain’s and Secretary’s briefing at the MCA. The tournament will feature three brand new teams, namely Synergen Health, 3DH International and Zellione Technologies. The tournament consisting 135 half day matches including the final will be conducted in two stages the ‘league’ and the ‘Knock - out’.

The League Stage consisting 120 matches will be from June 22 to July 28. The ‘Knock-out’ stage

consisting 15 matches will be on third August (PQF), 10th August (QF) 17th August (SF) and 24th August (Final). The selected venues : MCA, Veyangoda Central, Wesley College (Campbell Park), St. Benedict’s

Kotahena, Thurstan College, St. Joseph’s NSCA Rathmalana (Irrigation), Army Panagoda and Army Mattegoda. Player Control Team (PCT): MCA appointed Match Referees for the entire span of the tournament. The officiating umpires, assigned by the Association of Cricket Umpires Sri Lanka and officiating scorers assigned by the Sri Lanka Cricket Scorers. For the third time in the tournament DLS method will be used for interrupted matches to arrive at a decision.

Official Ball: MB Malik ‘Royal’ Ball, directly imported (through Agent) by the MCA from Pakistan, bearing the MCA Logo, sold to the teams at bear cost.

Special Awards: Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Series and Man of the Final.

Flash Back to 2018 : Sri Lanka Telecom lifted the Honda Trophy, beating Fairfirst Insurance by 07 wickets in the final played on September 15 at the MCA grounds. The sponsorship handing over ceremony and the Media Conference was held recently at the MCA Fine dining Restaurant.
