Cambrians lose on first innings

Jana Jaya Vidyalaya Egoda Uyana Moratuwa beat formidable and more fancied Prince of Wales College by 80 runs on first innings in their inter school under 15 division three tournament cricket match worked off at Cambrian grounds.

Batting first Jana Jaya scored 185 runs with Nuwan Bolonne making the top score off 48 runs and in reply Cambrians collapsed for 105 runs with Akila Fonseka capturing 4 for 31 runs.

87 run win

In another game in the same age group and division three Herman Gminner School Kesbewa beat Dharmapala Vidyalaya Arawwala on first innings by 87 runs and played at Piliyandala.

The bright spot of the game is a fine allround performance of 5 for 16 and 54 runs by Akila Madushanka. Batting first Arawwala Palians were all out for 67 runs and homesters declared at 154 for 4 and at the close visitors were 34 for 4. Herman Gminner is coached by former Centralian Sriyan Chaminda.

Dharmapala Vidyalaya – 67 in 29.3 overs – Akila Madushanka 5/16, Lasindu Maleesha 3/24 and 34/4 Lasindu Maleesha 2/10.

Herman Gminner School – 154/4 in 26 overs – Akila Madushanka 54, Lasindu Maleesha 30, Supun Senadeera 20, Nimesh Maduranga 2/23.
