Chathurya Nilaweera and Anjalika Kurera clinched the Boys’ and Girls’ Under-18 Singles title respectively at the 106th Colombo Open Tennis Championships, continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo.
The 16-year-old from Stafford College outplayed Dilvan Herath 4-1, 4-1 in the Boys’ Under-18 final having earlier defeated Hasal Ahangama 4-0, 4-2 in the semi-finals and Wenuka Kithnula 4-2, 4-0 in the quarter-finals respectively. Meanwhile, Kurera from Ave Maria Convent, Negombo had the better of Vishmi Serasinghe 4-2, 4-2 to clinch the Girls’ Under-18 title.
Earlier, she defeated Neyara Weerawansa 4-1, 4-1 in the quarter-finals and Hasali Gajaba 2-4, 4-1, 4-1 in the semi-finals.
