England U-19 win by 25 runs

Sri Lanka’s under 19 skipper Dunith Wellalage’s all round performance was invain as England under 19 notched up 25-run victory of the first ODI of the five match series played at SSC grounds yesterday.

England under 19 put into bat first scored 242 all out with Lankan skipper Dunith Wellalage did most of the damage to finish 5 for 30. Sri Lankan under 19 made a solid start with adding 51 runs between Chamindu Wickramasinghe (34) and Anjala Bandara (20) but they managed to score 217 all out in 47.3 overs.Dunith Wellalage made a fighting Innings of 68 in 68 balls hit 6 fours and a six while debutant Ranuda Somaratne scored 57 in 73 balls struck six fours. The second ODI between the two teams will be played on December 3rd at the same venue.
