Over 80 schools in the Southern Province will be benefitted when the Weeraketiya National Cricket Stadium is completed under the directions from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the Sports Ministry.
The stadium, which will be completed in two stages, will include five centre turf wickets, five practice side wickets, two concrete side wickets, scoreboard, a sight screen and ground machinery worth over Rs. five million. Once the ground is completed it will be of great value to all the cricketers in the Hambantota, Matara and Galle Districts.
The first stage of the stadium will be completed within three to four months and thereafter it will be handed over to the Hambantota Cricket Association.
