Seventeen year old, Shenaya Zain of Girls High School. Kandy who was admitted to the School in 2010 from Grade One onwards is at present in the Grade Twelve studying in the Arts stream is a talented Netball Player and Athlete who is a member of the School under 12 Netball team in which they obtained the ‘Super Eight’ title in the All Island Inter School Netball Championship for the Milo Trophy - 2016 organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association. She was a Member of the School Under 13 Netball team which entered the Quarter finals
In the Inter School Netball championship organized by the same Association she played as the ‘Wing Attack’ in the Netball team and in 2016 the under 13 team won the ‘Super Eight’ title in the Netball tournament organized by the Net Champs Netball Association of Kurunegala.
Shenaya was also a member of the Under thirteen and under fifteen Netball teams which qualified for the Best Eight in the ‘Jenny Green’ memorial Netball Carnival organized by the Girls High School in the Year 2017
She was in the Under fifteen Netball team which became Runners-up at the Central Province All Island Inter School Netball championship for the Milo Trophy in the year 2018 organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association. Her Team members of the School Netball team were Tharushi Samaratunge, Farmidha Feroz, Isiri Attanayake and Esandi Jayasinghe to name a few. In Athletics Shenaya qualified for the timing in the fifty metre Under 10 running event at the Kids Junior and Senior Open Athletics Championship in 2013 organized by the Kandy District Athletic Association.
She completed the Stage three successfully with the team of the Kids’ Athletics at the Annual Inter House Sports Meet as a member of the ‘Sansom House’ of the School. She was involved in ‘Discus throw’ event in the Under 16 age group and secured the third place at the School Inter House Sports Meet in 2018 and 2019.
Shenaya is a bright student who obtained eight ‘A’s at the G.C.E.(O/L) and a member of the School Sansom House Drama Troupe and is awaiting Western Music results in 2020.
