Ayeshika Jayawardena - talented swimmer of Mahamaya

Twenty-five-year old Ayeshika Jayawardena is a talented swimmer who has represented Mahamaya Girls’ School, Kandy with distinction.

Ayeshika started swimming in 2004 and won the Novices Meet at the 31st Sri Lanka Schools Championship.

In 2004 she participated in the Tamil Nadu/Sri Lanka Swimming Championship and came first in the 25m freestyle and 25m backstroke events.

In 2005 she came first in the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly events at the Central Province Swimming Meet.

In 2005, she came first in the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly events at the fifth National Pentathlon Swimming Championships.

She came first in the 100m breaststroke event at the 32nd

Sri Lanka Schools Meet.

She secured first place in the 100m and 50m breaststroke and second place in the 100m and 50m freestyle event at the 36th Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Association meet held at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex in Colombo.

After leaving school, she followed a District Sports Course conducted by the Department of Education and became the Sports Officer of Mahamaya Girls’ School.
