Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Management Committee Chairman Professor Arjuna de Silva said that discarded Avishka Fernando could always make a comeback to the Sri Lanka Team after completing his mandatory fitness test in due course.
The dashing opening batsman was left out from the Sri Lanka Team for the upcoming limited overs tour of Bangladesh after he failed in his regular fitness test recently.
“Young Avishka Fernando can take part in the fitness test next week and if he passes that test he has a good chance to make it to the England tour,” de Silva told the Daily News yesterday.
“It is important that national players should maintain their fitness first. But we can’t have a fitness test for only one player at this moment,” he added. (D.R)
