In opening game, Old DS edged out Masteris, Matale by 2 goals to 1, organized and conducted by the Colombo Municipal Council, Sports and Recreation Department, where the tournament which was commenced on April 1 will continue until the 4th at the Astro Turf, Reid Avenue, Colombo 7.
It was Masteris, Matale, who took the lead in the 18th minute, when L..S.M.Ratnayake got a keen pass and made no mistake netting the board to give his side a 1-0 lead at half time.
In the second half, Old DS teammates, with much understanding of passes between their forwards and halves combination , got the main striker C.M.Sumanaratne to score two quick goals in the 35th and 44th minute to put them ahead, but Mastaris missed chances of scoring opportunities inside the “D”, with Old DS custodians watchful eyes saved these attempts to give them a win in this inaugural tournament.
