Fifteen year old up and coming Volleyball Player and Athlete Samarawilage Nethmi Heshani Samarawila brought honour and fame to her school Wekada Maha Vidyalaya, Dankotuwa.
Initially she was admitted to the Grade One of Primary School Dankotuwa in 2012 when Mrs. Jessica was the Principal and her first class teacher was Mrs. Kusum.
When she was in this school she did not take part in sports activities. When she joined Wekada Maha Vidyalaya in 2017 she participated at the Kids Sports Meet and she did well in volleyball and her parents Jayantha Samarawila and Inoka Damayanthi encouraged their daughter to take up to volleyball and in the same year itself she came under their Prefect of Games and Volleyball coach Saman Bandara in the under 11 age group.
Same year there was a Volleyball Tournament in the Inter House Level and she was selected to the under 12 team and participated in the DSI District Tournament and her school became the runners Up and 2018 they took part at the Divisional and Zonal Tournaments and came second and third respectively and in the DSI District Tournament once again they won the second place. Same year at the Schools Sports Meet she did 400 and 800 metres and she came second and her coach was . Gayan. In 2019 after winning the lower level tournaments in volleyball and they were the District Champion but they were beaten at the All Island Quarter Finals. There were no sports at the school due to Covid 19 in 2020. Her Principal Mr. Wasantha is always extending his support for sports at her Alma Mater.
