Lisal cruise to easy win at Tennis Nationals

Lisal Goonathilake took a step closer towards winning the Boys’ Under-14 Singles title with an impressive performance at the Hutch-HNB Clay Court Tennis Nationals, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.

The promising player rallied around magnificently and had the better of Louis Knese in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 in the pre quarter-final encounter.

Boys’ Under-14 Singles pre quarter-finals: Lisal Goonathilake beat Louis Knese 6-1, 6-4. Thatuk Marasinghe beat Amrik Wettimuny 6-2, 6-7 (3), 10-3. Dhanushka Dias beat R. Gunawardhana 7-6 (2), 6-1. Senuk Hearth beat R. Akuretiyagama 6-1, 6-1. Sandas Usgodaarachchi beat Yuthilla Hettiarachchi 3-6, 6-2, 10-3. Janava De Saram beat Methika Wickramasinghe 6-3, 6-2. Ganuka Fernando beat Jayin De Saram 6-3, 6-1. Methwan Wijemannene beat Abdul Cader 6-2, 7-6. (C.D)
