Hiran Sasanga an outstanding gymnast

Hiran Sasanga

Seventeen year old Hiran Sasanga Ihaladeniya, a Grade Eleven student of St.Sylvester’s College, Kandy is a talented gymnast who started the game under the coaching of Amal Rasanga, a veteran gymnastic coach.

Hiran Sasanga brought fame to his school by winning eight gold medals and three bronze medals at the Kandy District Gymnastic Championship held from the year 2014 up-to 2020.

He went up on the ladder of success at the Central Province Gymnastic championship and won nine gold medals, two silver medals and 10 bronze medals from the year 2015 to 2020. He was placed first at the Sony TV International Invitational Gymnastic Cup in the year 2016. He won four gold medals in Floor Exercise, in Vault, Parallel Bar and Pommel Horse at this gymnastic championship.

In the Under 14 Sri Lanka Junior National Gymnastic Championship in the year 2017 Hiran became second in Vault, second in Parallel Bar and in the All Island Schools Games in the same year he was second in the Parallel Bar event. Again In the year 2018 at the All Island School Games in the Under 16 age category he became first in Rings, second in Floor,and Pommel Horse, third in Vault and in the year 2019 at the All Island School games he came first in Parallel bar and second in rings.

Hiran became the champion of the National Novices Artistic Gymnastic Championship (Boys) which was held in the year 2019.

Hiran Sasanga is an energetic gymnast and his intention is to be an International level gymnast and he is thankful to his gymnastic coach, Amal Rasanga and the Principal of St.Sylvester’s College who is encouraging the sports loving students of the school.
