Akkaraipattu Sunrise Youth Club men’s team beat Akkaraipattu Hijra Youth Club Carrom Team in the final to emerge men’s champions in the final as the Akkaraipattu Divisional Carrom Tournament which was held as part of the 33rd National Youth Sports Festival-2021, concluded at the Sunrise Carrom Centre, Akkaraipattu recently.
This Carrom tournament was organised by Akkaraipattu Divisional Secretariat Youth Services Officer Zameelul Ilahi. Altogether Ten registered youth clubs carrom teams from Akkaraipattu DS division took part in this competition. Akkaraipattu Sunrise Youth Club won single and double titles in the final.
The Akkaraipattu Sunrise Youth Club men’s team captain M.H.M.Sulfihan is the singles champion while M.H.M.Sulfihan and R.Sathath are the double champions. The champion team will compete at the Ampara District level carrom competition to be conducted by the National Youth Services Council. Venue and date not confirmed.
Retired Statistical Department Officer and Akkaraipattu Municipal Councilor I.L. Sarifdeen, Akkaraipattu Sunrise Sports Club President and Senior Management Service Officer M.H. Jainudeen, Vice- President N.T. Naleem, Akkaraipattu Divisional Youth Clubs Federation President M.M.Rukshan, Members of the Youth Clubs and many others participated.
