A superb team effort helped the Up-country Lions SC crush New Young SC 7-0 in their Pre-League Football Tournament match played at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo yesterday. The winners led 2-0 at half time.
New Young SC gifted their opponents with two penalties in the first half and left-extreme Kavindu Ishan made no mistake firing in the kicks.
After the first half, it was a one-sided contest as Up-country SC scored five more goals.
Mohamed Shifan joined in the party to boot three goals in quick succession while Kavindu Ishan scored his third goal in the latter part of the game and Kavindu Fernando placed the final nail in the coffin to seal an easy victory.
