St. Peter’s claim major honours as Trinity follow on

St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya took major honours in their Under-19 Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament fixture against Trinity which ended in a draw at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

After St. Peter’s had piled up 277 for nine in their first innings, the Trinitians were bundled out for 169 in reply and they were forced to follow on.

Right-arm paceman Danal Hemananda was the most successful bowler as he finished with five for 62 while Wanuja Kumara took three for 34.

The Trinitians were struggling in their second innings at 188 for eight wickets at close with Skipper Abhishek Ananadakumar (53) and Umair Raizan (56) adding 50 for the fourth wicket.

Meanwhile, Rayan Fernando hit a fluent 127 with 13 fours and two sixes for S. Thomas’ College in their drawn game against Ananda College at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

The Thomains made 236 for eight declared in their first innings while Ananda were 90 for one at close with opener Nusal Dharmaratne scoring an unbeaten 60 with nine fours.

St. Joseph’s College made a formidable 223 for two at close in their game against Wesley College which commenced at Campbell Park yesterday.

Shevon Daniel made an unbeaten 134 with 15 fours and three sixes while Sheran Fonseka made 73 with the pair adding 186 for the second wicket.
