Soldiers outplay sailors 3-2 in Galaxy Cup 2021

Sri Lanka Army clinched the second runner up position of the Under 25 Galaxy Cup 2021 Championship yesterday when they trounced Sri Lanka Navy 3-2 (23=25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-2-, 1-15).

Sailors got off to a flying start winning the first two sets to take full control of the game. Soldiers came to the third set hoping to challenge the sailors by changing their tactics. This brought them good results and went on to win the set 25-17, and continued the form and made further strides to gain the advantage from the win they gained in the third set and made a another stunning performance to win the set to put pressure on Soldiers making the score line 2 all.

The final set became a tough set for both teams and they fought the set in an equal manner and it really was a ding dong battle with scores getting equal on two occasions. The never say die soldiers brought in a brilliantshow to down the sailors at 11-15.

On Saturday in the women’s category Mahauswewa Sports Club lasses took the second runner up position beating the highly ranked airwomen in straight sets (25-22, 25-15, 25-10).

This game became one sided game with Mahauswewa SC Spikers dominating from the word go.
