Kushantha Perera defeated the defending champion Sanjaya Wakadapola 50-25 in the Pot Black Snooker Championship match played for the Shashi Welgama Challenge Cup at Orient Club last Saturday.
Kushantha had a stiff competition against Lucky de Silva in the semi final before qualifying for the final, which he won 50-47. In the other semi final defending champion Sanjaya Wakadapola had a 50-25 win over Rishal Hameed.
Ten players participated in this year’s event which was inaugurated in 2010. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, last year’s tournament could not be completed instead this tournament was played to replicate it.
Shashi Welgama the founder of this tournament garced the occasion and gave away the awards.
