All favourites won their respective second round matches in the Men’s Singles event on the fifth day of the Hutch-HNB Clay Court Tennis Nationals, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.
However, only Rustom Ali was stretched to a three setter as he struggled to beat Dhanuka Withana 7-6 (7), 4-6, 10-5.

Men’s Open Singles second round: Savith Weerasinghe beat Mohamed Ghouse 6-0, 6-0. Rustom Ali beat Dhanuka Withana 7-6 (7), 4-6, 10-5. Vibuda Wijebandara beat Nethvin Dharmarathne 6-0, 6-0. Ramith Hearth beat Indika Guruge 6-0, 6-0. Ruwan Fernando beat Kavindu Koralage 6-3, 7-6 (8).
Anujan Abeywickrama beat Suneth Fernando 6-3, 6-1. Dumindu Dilum beat Sandaru Guruge 6-1, 6-1, Hesara Kuruppu beat Dimitri Perera 6-2, 6-0. (C.D)
