Dinul, Sanidula and Vivash in the lead

Dinul Vinsitha Weerasekara of Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya, Sanidula Dahamdi of Musaeus and Vivash Samarakoon (Royal College) took the lead with three points out of possible three games after the third round of the second Sri Lanka Youth (Under 14 ) Chess Grand Prix yesterday .

Dinul beat Pamok Samaranayke, Insara Wickramarachchi and Disal Weerasekara while Sanidula beat Disal Weerasekara, KSCD Amaratunga and DWK Hettiarachchi in first three rounds in the group. Vivash beat Ashad Nevan Mohamed, Daham Jayasundara and Thisaja Kolonne in the first three rounds .

The second Sri Lanka Youth Chess Grand Prix 2021 is being conducted by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka with a total of 24 leading Chess players of the age group in the country.

It is being conducted on a round robin basis with two groups of 12 players and the winner and the runner up of the two groups will meet in the knock out stage on March 20 and 21 .

The Chess Federation has offered Rs. 55,000 in cash and has made all arrangements to have the event according to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.
