Vishwa Chathuranga, a Grade 10 student of St.Sylvester’s College who started gymnastics in the year 2013 registered his first win by securing the third place at the Kandy Distrrict Gymanstic Championship in 2014 and Vishwa has won 12 District Medals from the year 2014 todate. He started to win Provincial Medals since 2016 and so far he has secured 19 Central Province Medals. In the same year he took part in Sony International Invitational Gymnastic Championship and secured four Medals and at the All Island level he won the first Sri Lanka Schools Gymnastic Bronze Medal for Vault event in the year 2017.
Again in the same year he secured the third place in the Floor event at the Sri Lanka Junior Schools Gymnastic Championship. In 2019 Vishwa won a Silver medal in the Pommel Horse event at the Sri Lanka Schools Gymnastic Championship and in the same year he won a Bronze medal in the Vault event .
Chamod Jayawardena is another outstanding gymnast of St.Sylvester’s who is a Grade nine Student and he registered his first victory in the Pommel Horse event at the Kandy District Gymnastic Championship in the Under 12 age category. Chamod has won nine District Medals upto date and he won his first Provincial Gold Medal in the year 2017 in the Under 12 age category.
Chamod has won nine Provincial Medals from 2016 upto date He secured his first National Roman Rings Gold Medal in 2019 at the Junior National Artistic Gymnastic Championship and he was also fifth in High-bar and eighth in Vault events.
R.Kabeesharan is the third up and coming gymanst of St.Sylvester’s who is in Grade 9 and He started gymnastics in the year 2013 and he won his first Central Province Silver Medal in Vault event.
So far he has won 12 District Medals and has secured six Provincial Medals from 2013 to date. Kabeesharan won his first Sri Lanka Schools Junior Gymnastic Parallel Bar Silver Medal in 2019 and in the same year at Sri Lanka Schools Games a Bronze Medal in Parallel Bar event.
All three of them are thankful to their Coach Amal Rasanga for the encouragement and assistance given to them to become talented gymnasts.
