The pair of Akeesha Silva and Movindi Fernando combined effectively to clinch the Girls’ Under-14 Doubles title at the SSC Open Tennis Tournament, which continued at the SSC Courts in Maitland Place yesterday.
Akeesha and Movindi staged a superb late rally to clinch the final encounter in an exciting three-setter while overcoming Inuki Jayaweera and Melesha Randini 1-4, 4-2, 11-9.

Girls’ Under-14 Doubles final: Akeesha Silva and Movindi Fernando beat Inuki Jayaweera and Melesha Randini 1-4, 4-2, 11-9.
Men’s Over-45 Doubles final: Arjun Fernando and Chammika de Silva beat Samuel Balasinghe and Danusha De Lanerolle 6-0 and retired.
Boys’ Under-18 Singles semi-finals: Ransath Peiris beat Anujaya Abeywickrama 5-7, 6-3, 10-5. Hasal Ahangama beat Matheesh Nettasinghe 6-2, 6-2.
Girls’ Under-18 Singles semi-finals: Vishmi Serasinghe beat Ruvi Lewkebandara 6-3, 3-6, 10-5.
