Dona Vihara Gimhani Withana has brought honour and glory to her Alma Mater Taxila Central College, Horana and has shone as an outstanding Athlete. Vihara commenced her schooling initially at Sri Revatha Maha Vidyalaya, Nahella, Horana and she was admitted to this school in 2007 and her first teacher was Mrs. Rukmani and from her younger days her forte was athletics. In her school there were no sports activities and once a year they held an inter house athletic meet. Firstly she participated in the under 12 age group and competing in the 50 and 75 metres and high jump she came first and representing Bulathsinhala Division she came first and in the under 14 age group participating for two successive years she swept the board in the same events.
In 2015 she got a sports scholarship to Taxila Central, Horana and competing in the under 15 age group in putt shot and discus throw she came fourth in the Provincial, all island and John Tarbat Meets and was awarded colours. In the following year she came first in the school and zonal meets and came fourth in the all island and won colours at the John Tarbat Meet. In the year 2018 she came first in putt shot and third in the Provincial and Junior Nationals.
In 2018 and 2019 at the Lanka Lions Club Meet she came first in putt shot and discus throw and at the John Tarbet meet she won colours. In the Youth National All Island Meet 2018 she came third in discus throw and in 2019 at the school meet she won her events . In the Provincial Meet she came second and in the 2019 schools sports meet she came first and in the Provincial Meet also. She came second in the Provincial Meet and in the Junior Nationals and in John Tarbat Meet she was second. in addition to athletics she was a member of the school Kabaddi Team 2015, 2016 and 2017 and she captained the team and came first in the Provincial Meets.
She is a member of the Throw Ball team and captained the team in 2020 and they were the Provincial Runners Up. In netball she was the captain of the school netball team. This year she was appointed as the Schools Games Captain.
