NOC provides assistance for needy athletes

The Athletes’ Commission of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Sri Lanka, under the patronages of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Solidarity provided relief assistance to sportsmen and sportswomen who have been distressed owing to the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

The distribution of vouchers to the needy athletes through their respective National Federations were made under the patronage of Secretary NOC, Maxwell de Silva at the Olympic House in Colombo 7.

The needy sportsmen/sportswomen were recommended to receive the relief assistance by their respective National Federations and the Athletes’ Commission.

These sportsmen/sportswomen, who are in the low-income group due to the COVID-19 pandemic was considered under this project and received assistance for their daily needs, training and nutrition for the next two months.

Over 100 needy sportsmen/sportswomen benefited through this noteworthy project.
