H.M Sisira Kumara was re- elected President of the Sri Lanka Karate- Do Federation at their Annual General Meeting held at the Sports Ministry recently. There were ten nominations for the top post but Sisira Kumara was elected by a majority of 265 votes .The elections were conducted by the election committee headed by retired high court judge Wimal Nambuwasam
and two members retired deputy sports directors Padma Beddewela and R.P.N Chandrasekara.
There were so many objections for this election and all objections were overruled by the special committee appointed by the Sports Minister. The special committee comprised retired deputy
Education Director A.R.Kularatne and retired Major General R.M.P Bandara . The objection pointed out that this election was against the Sports Act but special committee investigated all and finally made the decision to hold this election
Keerthi Kumra Basnayaka was elected Secretary while Rohan Greasman was elected to the Treasurer post . Three top posts President , Secretary and Treasurer were elected with a big majority
keen interest was shown by the affiliated clubs to conduct this election . There were 48 nominations received for the nine Executive Board members . There are 382 affiliated clubs registered with the Federation while 347afficiated clubs were registered for this election.
