Nethmi Fernando, Grade.12 Student of Girls High School,Kandy came out with a sterling performance to win National Chess Championship conducted by the Chess Federation at the Taj Samudra Hotel,Colombo from 11th to 21st of September,2020.
Her School mates, Miyumi Wijesinghe,a Grade.9 student and Wishwara Mapa, Grade.10 student ended up in 8th & 14th place respectively at the same tournament. More than 80 competitors from all over the Island participated in this Tournament.
