Djokovic beats Tsitsipas to win third Madrid Open title

Madrid, Sunday: Novak Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-4 on Sunday to win a third Madrid Open title and a record-equalling 33rd Masters crown.

The world number one, who was also champion in the Spanish capital in 2011 and 2016, has pulled level with Rafael Nadal at the top of the list for Masters wins in a timely boost two weeks away from the French Open. Tsitsipas had made the final by knocking out Nadal in the semi-finals on Saturday. AFP
