Army go out favourites against Air Force

The hapless Air Force Sports Club outfit will have a strong challenge in overcoming the high riding Army Sports Club in their Dialog ‘A’ Division inter-club league rugby super round - Plate championship match at Navy Grounds in Welisara today. Match will commence at 4.00 pm.

This year’s Air Force side is going through a miserable season where they have lost their last match to CR & FC 26-36 last week. Fly half Gayantha Iddamalgoda and centre Charith Seneviratne will be the players to watch from the Air Force camp.

Army Sports Club on the other hand will be going into this match brimming with confidence after their morale boosting wins against the Kandy Sports club side in Nittawala and once again they made a shock victory over formidable Navy sports Club where they pulled off a stunning 27-25 win at Welisara through a last minute penalty slotted in by their full back Gayan Salinda. But they lost to CH and FC last week by 22-24 after a close fight.

Salinda will be their key figure in this match as well.
