Night cycle race in Negombo on Dec. 29

Katana Free Riders cycling club in collaboration with Gampaha District Cycling Association will conduct their first ever night standard cycle race under flood lights on December 29 commencing at 7.00 pm from Thimbirigaskata, Negombo.

According to Free Riders club chairman Upul Ranasinghe Silva the 96 km race will be conducted in four categories including under-18 Standard women’s race, over-50 men’s race, Open men’s race and under 23 race. The races will run on a 6km circular track including 16 rounds to complete.

Winners will be offered Rose Fernando challenge shield and many more trophies, apart from the cash prizes. First, second and third places will receive Rs. 60,000, Rs.50,000 and Rs. 40,000 cash awards and the first four riders will also win a bicycle each.

Winners from fourth to tenth too will receive cash prizes.
