Siri Piyarathana Central College Padukka defeated Taxila Central College Horana by three wickets to enter the finals of the under 17 division II cricket tournament.
The semi-final encounter was hosted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association at the Prince of Wales College grounds yesterday (05).
Electing to field first Siri Piyarathana were able to restrict the Taxila Central innings to 128 runs. Madushan Peiris grabbed six wickets while Sasanga Adeepa 28 and Gihan Madubash 27 were the only two batsmen to pass the twenty run mark.
Even with Thisara Sachintha capturing a five wicket haul Siri Piyarathana won the game with three wickets in hand and 19 overs to spare. Dewmina Rathnasiri topped the score card with 31 while Kavinda Fernando chipped in with 21.
