Sri Lanka 1-295 in Bangladesh first Test

Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Mendis have helped Sri Lanka reach 1-295 at lunch on Friday's third day of the opening Test against Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka trailed by 218 runs in their first innings after dismissing Bangladesh for 513.

De Silva was unbeaten on a career-best 170, eclipsing his previous highest 129, while Mendis, who brought up his fourth century in the morning session, was 125 not out.

The duo added 108 runs before lunch, resuming the day on 1-187.

Bangladesh created only one chance when pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman forced Mendis to edge one to slip in the third over but it flew between the slip fielders.

Mendis, who was on 83, was third-time lucky, having survived on four and 57 on day two. De Silva, however, was flawless again.
