Navod Paranavitana of Mahinda College, Galle passed the milestone of one thousand runs in the division one Singer Cup under-15 Inter-school Cricket Tournament. His feat includes 5 centuries and 4 half-centuries. He scored 132 runs against Debarawewa Central, 175 against Matara St. Servatius' College, 118 against Matar Rahula College, 125 against Kotte Ananda Shashtralaya and 106 against Kandana De Mazenod College.
He scored a total of 1,022 runs in 13 under-15 matches and scored more than 500 runs in the ongoing under 19 first class schools tournament. Navod also excels in bowling and captured 21 wickets in this series.
He represents the first-eleven team of the college for the consecutive third year at the age of 16. As an under 13 players Navod accumulated 1182 runs in 2015. He was adjudged the Best Player of the U-15 inter school cricket tournament and showed great promise as a budding cricketer.
