It will be an exciting tussle for supremacy when CH & FC lock horns with Havelock Sports Club in their Dialog ‘A’ Division Inter Club League Rugby Tournament first leg encounter at the Race Course grounds, commencing at 4.00 pm today.
In retrospect how the two teams fared this season, Havies have a definite chance of coming on top and this factor makes the match a thrilling tussle.
It is the Park Club which won the both League games last year against CH.
In this year’s first match of the League, Havies thrashed Police 36 nil.
The guys from the Meatland Place beat the formidable CR side by 19 points to 12 at Race Course grounds while Havelock’s were brought to the ground when they were thrashed by the fighting young Navy SC side by 25-14 at Welisara in a one sided game last week.
CH will have a definite advantage when comparing the two fly halves. The Meatland Place team will hugely bank on their fly half former Antonian sensation Samuel Maduwantha who will strike it very much faster than the Havies fly half Niroshan Fernando. Maduwantha will be the man to watch in today’s game.
The Park Club boys with the presence of a sturdy set of forwards who are capable of pulling the game in their favour will have to be at their best, if the speedy three quarters of the Havies’ spearheaded by their dynamic play maker cum former Peterite and the present national centre Nishone Perera to deliver the desired results today. Then it will be a daunting task for the CH and FC but they will be countering their attack through another Peterite and national centre Lee Keegal to grab a much needed victory, just like he did against the formidable CR outfit last week.
