Three uncapped players in SL Squad for Women’s WC

Three uncapped players including schoolgirl Vishmi Rajapaksa have been named in Sri Lanka’s 17-member Women’s Cricket Squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier to be held from November 21 to December 5 in Zimbabwe.

Sixteen-year old Vishmi Gunaratne from Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha is the youngest in the squad.

Earlier, Gunaratne, became the youngest centurion in the history of Sri Lanka Women's First-Class cricket at just 15-years old.

The experienced Chamari Atapattu has been named Captain of the team once again and promising all-rounder Harshitha Madavi has been named Vice-Captain.

10 teams will compete for the three remaining spots in the World Cup in New Zealand next year.

Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Squad: Chamari Atapattu (Captain), Harshitha Madavi (Vice-Captain), Inoka Ranaweera, Nilakshi de Silva, Hasini Perera, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Ama Kanchana, Udeshika Prabodhani, Prasadani Weerakkody, Sugandika Kumari, Anushka Sanjeewani, Kavisha Dilhari, Imesha Dulani, Vishmi Gunaratne, Achini Kulasooriya, Tharika Sewwandi and Sachini Nisansala.

Standby players: Umesha Thimashini, Kawya Kavindi, Madushika Meththananda, Sathya Sandeepani and Lihini Apsara.
