Family, friends bid adieu to Bandula Warnapura

The funeral of late Bandula Warnapura, who led Sri Lanka in their maiden Test, was held at the general cemetery in Borella yesterday, amidst a large gathering of former national cricketers and colleagues. Among those present was former Sri Lanka Captain Arjuna Ranatunga, who played alongside Warnapura in the inaugural Test against England in 1982. Warnapura (68) played four Tests and 12 One Day Internationals for his country and passed away on Monday while receiving treatment in a private hospital. Pic by Sudath Malaweera
