Bangladesh stay alive as Oman falter

Mohammad Naim plays a shot

Bangladesh kept their chances alive of making it to the ICC Twenty20 Cricket World Cup Super 12 with a 26-run victory over Oman at Al Amerat in Muscat yesterday.

After compiling a modest 153 in 20 overs, Bangladesh got their act together well on the field with a disciplined bowling performance to contain the home side to 127 for nine.

Oman of course, made a promising start to their run chase but faltered mid way in the innings against some accurate bowling from Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan.

Earlier, Bangladesh rallied around opener Mohammad Naim’s half-century to post a decent 153 after having elected to bat first.

He also added 80 runs for the third wicket together with Shakib Al Hasan, who hit a sparkling 29-ball 42 inclusive of six boundaries.
