Lankan women start on winning note

Sri Lanka women’s teams started with a winning note on the first day at the team events of the Asian Table Tennis championship which is now in progress at Lusail Sports arena in Doha Qatar.

The women’s team led by experienced Ishara Madurangi defeated Bangladesh and Jordan teams respectively 3-0 each while they lost to Kazakhstan team 0-3 on the first day.

Ishara Madurangi, Bimandee Bandara and Muthumali Priyadharshani played singles games at the team event and they are in number two in their group standings with two victories .

Meanwhile Sri Lanka men’s team led by Chameera Ginige beat Bangladesh 3-0 while they lost to Thailand 1-3 in the second game.

However they made good battle against Qatar team yesterday with making tough battle. After the three tough games Qatar team finally won 3- 1. Skipper Ginige won his single game against Qatar opponent Ahmad Kaleel 3-1 while Senura Silva the youngster of the men’ team made two close battles against Mohammad Abudulla lost to 0-3 while his second game once again lost to Ahmad Kaleel 3-0 making three setter 11-5, 12-10, 11-6).

Earlier against Thailand Senura Silva is the only Sri Lankan winning player at the single game .

Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh 3-0 , Thailand beat Sri Lanka 3-1 , Qatar beat Sri Lanka 3-1

Women’s –

Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh 3-0, Kazakhstan beat Sri Lanka 3-0 , Sri Lanka beat Jordan 3-0 (D.R)
