
Athlete, Volleyball and Netball Player Divalaka Hewage Vinodi Kaushalya has brought honour and glory to her Alma Mater Veyangoda Central College, University of Sabaragamuwa and her motherland. She was born on 26th November 1996 and was admitted to Ranpokunugama Maha Vidyalaya in 2002 when Mrs. Chandrani Karunanayake was at the helm of the school and her first class teacher was Mrs. Gamlath.
In 2005 she participated in the Inter House Sports Meet of the school and she came first in High Jump and Long Jump and came second in 50 metres and though she was selected for the Divisional meet she did not participate In 2007 she was drafted to Veyangoda Central College and when she was in Grade 11 she took part in High Jump and Triple Jump and came first and at the Divisional and Zonal Meets she came second in her events
In the mean time her parents Ajith Premalal and Sumeermna Girty Geekiyanage encouraged their daughter to take up to volleyball and she came under their coach and Master in Charge of Volleyball Indika Amarasekera. Same year she participated at the School Inter House Volleyball Competition and their house won and at the Divisional, Zonal and Provincial tournaments also they were victorious at the 13 age group they lost in the All Island Inter SchoolsTournament and in the following year in the under 15 they won all the lower tournaments. In the under 17 tournament they came up to Semi Finals in the DSI and All Island Schools in 2017 . With all these performances and experiences under her belt she was a unanimous choice and toured China with the under 17 team where 15 countries participated and Sri Lanka lasses became 13th and this was a fine exposure for Vinodi.
After returning home she was awarded Gampaha School Colours and adjudged the Best Player of the District. In 2018 they became third in the All Island under 18 DSI Tournament and in the All Island Schools Tournament they came up to Semi Finals and in 2014 too they came up to Semi Finals and the DSI Inter Schools Tournament and in the same year she toured Chinese Taipei, with the under 19 team where 16 countries participated and Sri Lanka girls came up to Best Eight.
In the same year she participated in the under 19 tour of Asian Girls and out of nine countries Sri Lanka came Fifth and she was awarded Milo Colours. She was felicitated by the Gampaha Zonal Education Department and she was adjudged the Best Player of the District and awarded colours.
Due to “A” Levels in 2015 she kept away from sports temporarily and in 2016 Munchee Novices she represented Air Force and Airwomen became the Runners Up. Once again in 2017 she toured Thailand with Sri Lanka under 23 Girls team and out of 11 countries they came ninth. Representing the Sri Lanka Army in 2018 they ended up third
In 2019 representing the Mercantile Tournament for Meerigama Brandix Green Team Apparels they were the second. In All Island she represented the Sabaragamuwa University in the Inter - University Tournaments in 2017, 18 and 19 and she captained her school for three successive years and she was the schools Girls Sports Captain in 2014.
