Sports Ministry to conduct Family Races at Race Course

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has organised a family run to be held every Saturday morning covering a distance of five kilometres commencing on April 10 at 6.00 a.m.

This event is organised with the help of Lanka Sportreizen and the race will be worked off around the Race Course and on the road in close proximity to the Sports Ministry.

“We are adults and our responsibility is to build up active children in the society from their childhood,” Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa told a media briefing in Colombo yesterday.

“We have to give them proper guidance to build up their career with more activities.”

“Our new Family Run Saturday Programme will help us to achieve this target,” said the Sports Minister.

Sportreizen Chairman Thilak Weerasinghe, Sports Director General Dr. Lal Ekanayake and Cinnamon Garden Police Station Traffic OIC Suraj Abeysinghe also graced this launching ceremony. (D.R)
