Champion Athlete, School Netball Captain from 2012 to 2018, Sri Lanka under 21 Netball Captain for the World Cup 2018 and Sri Lanka under 19 netball Captain for the Australian Tour of 2019 Weerakoon Pathiranage Sethmi Danoshi has brought honour and glory to her Alma Mater Holy Family Convent Kurunegala and her motherland. She was born on 13th June 2001 and admitted to this prestigious convent in 2007 when Rev. Sister Sriyani was at the helm of the school.

Following her father’s footsteps a former Sri Lanka Air Force Warrant Officer W. Dharmakeerthi who was a fine football and a gymnastic player during his hey day. Sethmi commenced athletics when she was in Grade Two and swept the board easily at the Inter House Sports meet in 100, 200 and 100x4 metres Relay Event and in 2009, 2010 and 2011 too she won her events and became Champion for four successive years and she came up to the high school up to 2017 she excelled in athletics at the School Sports meet In 2016 she was the Champion Athlete and in 2018 she was the under 18 Champion Athlete and Games Captain in 2019 and 2020.
In the meantime when she was under 12 her mother Champika Nishani along with her father encouraged their daughter to take up to netball and she came under the Coaches Mrs. Amalka and Ananda Wannithilake and in the same year her school won the Divisional, Zonal, District and Provincial Tournaments and they were the All Island Champions too. From 2012 to 2019 except 2013 her school won all the Lower Level Tournaments and qualified for the Higher Level Tournaments under her captaincy. They were the All Island Runners Up in the Milo Tournament in 2015 and in 2016 and they won the Milo Championship, National Schools Championship and again in 2017 Milo Runners Up and in 2018 National Schools and Milo Championship and in 2019 they were the Milo Runners Up and All Island Schools Champion and in the Junior National Tournament they were the Champions and she was adjudged the Best Defender and in the Senior Nationals they came third and she carried away the Best Defender’s Title and in the Netball Federation Tournament they were the champions. In 2015 and 17 they were the EVA Netball Champions.
In 2015 her school team made a tour of Malaysia for Pesta Cup and 20 countries participated and they were the runners up and she captained the team. This tour was a fine exposure for all the girls of the team.
In 2017 she made the World Cup Tour of South Africa and 20 teams participated and Sri Lanka was 19th and she captained the team In 2018 she captained the Development Team and four teams participated and the Local Team came third.
Her final tour was in 2019 to Melbourne, Australia for under 19 Waverly Cup and she captained the team and out of 30 teams they came up to Best Seven and it was the first ever instance that Sri Lanka came to this position and as an under 17 player she was in the All Island Team. In this context Rev. Sister Priscilda and Rev. Sister Priyangani with the coaches and other school teachers helped her in many ways to come up the ladder.
