Methsandi advance to U-18 fourth round

Dahamna Methsandi produced a splendid performance to reach the fourth round of the Girls’ Under-18 Singles of the HNB-Hutch Clay Court Tennis Nationals, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.

Methsandi took the opening set 6-1 but came under tremendous pressure before she snatched a 7-5 win over Nilasi de Silva in a third round encounter.

The results:

Girls’ Under-18 Singles third round: Saajida Razick beat N. Vivekanandan 6-0, 6-1. Dahamna Methsandi beat Nilasi de Silva 6-1, 7-5. Nelani Jayasuriya beat Pasadni Weerasekera 6-0, 6-0.

Zeenath Zihar beat A. Vairavanathan 6-1, 6-0. Vishmi Serasinghe beat Oneli Perere 6-2, 6-2. (C.D)
