
Hatton National Bank (HNB) put up a superb display of skills to beat Air Force SC 54-37 to clinch the Super League Netball Championship worked off at the Ratnapura Public Indoor Stadium recently.
This tournament was organised by the Sri Lanka Netball Federation (SLNF) to mark the centenary year of Sri Lanka Netball.
HNB took the lead 15-7 in the first quarter and kept extending their lead in each of the following three quarters and led 28-17 at the half time. Air Force SC played better early in the second half to score 11 points to
10 by HNB but in the final quarter HNB put up a fine display to score 15 points as against just eight points.
Sri Lanka player Dharshika Abeywickrama scored 50 goals for HNB while Sri Lanka Skipper Chathurangi Jayasinghe scored 20 points and Madumali Sinhabahu 17 points for the losers. In the playoff match, Police SC overcame a tough challenge from Army SC to score a 28-26 win to finish in third place.
