Well known sportsman of Dharmaraja College Tissa Jayasinghe was elected as the president of the Dharmaraja OBA, at the AGM held on Sunday. Tissa was in school from 1965 to 1978 played Cricket, Football, and Hockey and was an Athlete. In 1978 played hockey for Sri Lanka Schools. He joined the PrisonS Department in 1981 as an Executive Jailor and ended up as Commissioner of Prisons in 2018. He was the Sports Secretary at Prisons and was Sri Lanka Hockey Federation - Vice President, Sri Lanka Hockey – Women’s -Coach, National Umpire and also Kandy District Hockey Association President. He was also the Kandy District Cricket Association secretary and Central Province Cricket Association vice President. at present he is committee member of Kandy District cricket Association.
A keen follower of sports he is sure to continue the good work he did in the last term. Tissa is an International hockey coach who followed the FIH (Federation of International Hockey) course in 1999 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He also coached the National Women’s Hockey Team that toured Thailand in 1996. He played for the State Services hockey team that toured Malaysia and Singapore in 1996.
