The Games Captain of the school and the Beach Volleyball Captain Sithmi Nurasha Wohari Samarawila brought honour and fame to her Alma Mater Wekada Maha Vidyalaya , Yogiyana, Dankotuwa.
Sithmi was admitted to the Grade One of this school in 2009 when Mr. Wickramasinghe was the Principal of the school and her first class teacher in Grade One was Mrs. Jessica.
When she was admitted to the school Primary there was only Inter House Athletic Meets annually but she did not take an interest in sports activities as her father Jayantha Samarawila passed away when she was one year old. But when she came up to Grade Six her mother Inoka Damayanthi encouraged her to do sport and she did Putt Shot, Discus and Javelin at the Inter House Sports Meet and won places. When she was in Grade Seven she took an interest in volleyball and came under the Prefect of Games and Volleyball Coach of the school Saman Kumara and her house won the Championship of the under 13 age group at the Inter House Volleyball Tournament. In the same year she played for the school team at the All Island Tikiri Volleyball Tournament in 2015 held at Kuliyapitiya and her school could not come up to expectations.
In 2016 their under 13 volleyball team went up to Provincial level and in the under 15 team too came up to Provincial level.
In 2018 their under 17 team won the Divisional, Zonal and the Provincial Tournaments and in the All Island Schools Tournament they reached up to Quarter Finals and in 2018 she took up to Beach Volleyball under the instructions of coach Saman Kumara and her senior partner and Captain was Nethsika and she was the Vice Captain and in the All Island Open Tournament her school lost to Anamaduwa Central in the finals and in 2019 she was appointed as the Captain of the team and as the school Games Captain. Her next partner was Nadeera and their team lost in the Provincial Finals. There was no tournament during the year 2020 due to Covid 19. In this context her Principal W. S. A. Vithana and the coach Saman Kumara and her class teacher Mrs. Kalhari were very supportive of her.
