Karate Orange Belt Holder and Taekwondo Player Ranhulu Sahan Dananjaya Mandis has brought honour and fame to his Alma Mater Sugathananda Vidyalaya , Madampe with his achievements on the sports field He was admitted to this school in 2011 when P. Kumararatne was the Principal and his first class teacher was Mrs. Geethika Jayasuriya.
At the early stages at school Sahan was not interested in sports. But his parents Nandika Mandis and Iresh Roshani Paris encouraged him to do karate and in 2017 he was handed over to school Karate Coach and Master in Charge M. Mallawarachchi. In the same year Sahan participated in the Puttalam District Karate Do Tournament and won a Gold Medal for Kumite in his first attempt itself and a Silver medal for Kata in the under 13 age category.

His second tournament was the Karate Do North Western Provincial Meet and Sahan won a Bronze for Kumite and in the All Island National Championship he won a Gold for Kumite.
In the following year at the Puttalam District Karate Championship he won Golds for Kumite and Kata and at the North Western Province Karate Championship he won a Silver for Kumite and a Bronze for Kata. .
To enhance his skills in the game his parents admitted him to the ISKU Karate Academy in 2019 and Sahan came under Sugath Kumara. Same year he was selected from his Academy for the ISKU International Karate Cup Tournament held in , India and 15 competitors participated from six countries in that event and Sahan won a Gold Medal for Kumite under 14 age category and this performance was a great boon for his karate career and he was awarded the Orange Belt.
In addition to Karate he did Taekwondo under Mr. Mallwarachchi at school in 2019 and at the 10th Cadet Taekwondo Championship under 13 category he won a Silver Medal and in the Taekwondo National Cadet Championship in the same age group he won a Bronze. His Principal Ranjan de Silva and Prefect of Games . Saman Kumara are always supportive of him.
